Kaliningrad Russia since 2012

Distribute clothing donations and support for the creation of social enterprises

Volunteers from Kaliningrad approached the German Clothing Foundation in 2012 in order to receive concrete aid supplies, but also support through knowledge and experience. The opportunity to help needy people quickly and unbureaucratically with needed clothing means a lot to the partners. In the meantime, five so-called "Thank You Shops" have been opened in Kaliningrad. The proceeds are used to finance aid for the needy on site. In addition, clothing collection containers were also brought to Kaliningrad with the last transports. In this way, our project partner would like to attract the better-off inhabitants of Kaliningrad as donors of clothing. The containers have been placed at various locations in Kaliningrad and can be seen as a special form of "help for self-help". Around 40 organizations and initiatives are provided with clothing free of charge in Kaliningrad. In 2018, children's teams were provided with sportswear as part of the World Cup. The project is now running independently. Clothing supplies are no longer needed. After the good experience in Kaliningrad, our project is now networking to St. Petersburg and Moscow. Nevertheless, it remains a current project for the German Clothes Foundation, as we continue to support our partners there through collegial advice. The current situation is increasingly stressful for the citizens in Russia. The need for help is increasing. A new store and a clothing store for the needy are to be opened soon in Tilsit.
