Rio de Janeiro Brazil 2014

In 2014, the German Clothing Foundation sponsored jerseys for 11 children's soccer teams on the occasion of the World Cup in Brazil. Just in time for the start of the World Cup, the children from the favela Cidade de Deus were able to enjoy their own jerseys. Our local contact was the organization INPAR, an institution of the Presbyterian Church. INPAR organizes social work for the so-called "Largados", the loose ones. This is the name given to children and young people who have no one to look after them. At INPAR, the children receive daily lunch, homework help and supplementary instruction, as well as a sports program. As a condition of participation, the children must go to school. The children are also provided with clothing from their own clothing store. A soccer jersey, however, is something very special for the children and unattainable under normal conditions.
